43 percent of Americans are “very concerned” about Facebook’s invasions of privacy
Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life. It’s free and always will be… It’s hard to find a person who has never seen these lines in their life.
The monstrously popular social networking platform has gone through a lot of transformations since its original launch in 2004 as a Harvard student network. Posting too much information on Facebook might be unsafe for you and your family.
This shouldn’t be news to anyone after Gallup found in a poll released a few weeks ago, that 43 percent of Americans are “very concerned” about Facebook’s invasions of privacy — an increase of 13 percentage points since 2011, when Gallup conducted a similar poll. Are you among those two billion people who belong to a $50 billion empire?
Here are 9 things you should delete from Facebook immediately with many reasons why:
- YOUR PHONE NUMBER:
If you’re among the more than large number of people using Facebook for work, then it helps you to run your business, true. It’s understandable that you’ll want to give your phone number out on Facebook as sometimes you can’t just discuss every detail in writing. In most other cases, it might be a good idea not to give your phone number on your page. After all, there are all kinds of people online and even hackers. If you can give those on your friends list your number in person, then why put in on your page for everyone to take?
- FRIENDS WHO AREN’T YOUR REAL FRIENDS:
How many Facebook friends have you? Over 1000 or 500? Having many friends gives you the feeling that you are very popular. On a real note, how many of these people are truly your real friends?
Folks, we all have that “pretty” girl we met at an event a few year ago or in the case of the ladies, that “guy” we were introduced to at a party and who seemed pretty cool and so we added them to our friends list just in case. But ask yourself – would you share any of your personal news with him or her if we met them in real life? Would you even remember their names? Trust me, the most likely answer is No.
Researchers believe a human can keep approximately 150 stable relationships. Of course, you must not forcefully cut your friend’s list to that number, however, come to think of it, this might be a good idea to virtually let go of people you would rather not share your news and pictures with in reality.
- THE FACEBOOK MOBILE APP:
How long does your phone’s battery live for? If it’s more than 4 or 5 hours, then you must be one of those people who carry power banks or reach for socket to socket in search of power. Don’t you wonder why or how a 100 percent charged battery would drop to a risky 20 percent in absolutely no time, meanwhile you weren’t even actively using your phone?
Tech World Zone was wondering too, so they ran an independent test which revealed that the Facebook App on Android phones takes at least 20 percent of your battery life. It turns out that the Mobile Facebook App depletes the battery in the background whenever your phone is “ON”. Just pondering… Do you really need a Facebook App on your phone? Reality can be much more exciting, so maybe it’s a good idea to delete the Facebook App from your phone so that you can come home to your Facebook account full ofupdates and new ‘Likes’ and all the excitement. Yay!
