Cameroon’s music scene has given us plenty to talk about in 2018, and we’re only halfway through the year. New artists are getting noticed, familiar names are releasing new music, and collaborations are bringing together some of the country’s biggest talents.

Back in 2016, The HotJem put together a list of the Top 10 Hottest Cameroonian Music Videos released during the first half of the year. This year, we’re bringing the countdown back, and yes, we already know everyone won’t agree with our picks. That’s part of the fun.

Choosing just 10 wasn’t easy. YouTube views matter, but numbers alone don’t tell the whole story. We also looked at the impact of the song, the quality and creativity of the music video, the overall response from fans and, of course, the buzz on social media.

There were plenty of other videos that could have made the list, but there can only be 10. So which Cameroonian music videos have stood out the most so far in 2018? Let’s get into the countdown.

10. Numerica – Validé

Coming in at the 10th Position is “Valide” by Arise Entertainment Artist – Numerica, it’s an amazing song with a beautiful video, directed by NS Pictures and is one of our favorite performances from an Artist in recent times. Watch it and see for yourself.

9. Locko – BooBoo

Locko never disappoints with his music. His debut Album “The Bridge” was released this year and he has been on several collaborations both in Cameroon and beyond. The song BooBoo is an Afropop Banger which features the sexy Cameroonian Diva – Mimie as his love interest. Shot by Dr. Nkeng Stephens, “BooBoo” is a very beautiful video to watch.

8. Mr. Leo – On Se Connait Pas

At the 8th position, we have Alpha Better artist Mr. Leo in “On Se Connait Pas”. In the song he denounces and challenges poverty. Dr. Nkeng Stephens does justice to the song with a boxing themed video in which Mr. Leo faces poverty. After a long and difficult battle, he finally emerges victorious. Co-directed by Atnurin, we love the theme of the video.
