The difference between the Nigerian entertainment industry and other entertainment industries, is that their support for one another is second to none. The rate at which they protect their industry and encourage their artists explains why they are on top of everything.
They do not need to go about saying #SupportYourOwn, all over social media or any where else for people to see or hear it, as they support their own if they want to and don’t if they do not want to. Nobody needs to tell them when to support their fellow Nigerian.
Nigerian dancehall singer and rapper, Cynthia Morgan, who recently changed her stage name to Madrina after falling out with her employers, Northside Entertainment, could not be more depressed at this point in her life. However, her compatriots are helping her handle the difficult time with normalcy.

The talented dancehall singer signed to the label and maybe due to her excitement for a contract with the prestigious label, did not read through all the terms stipulated by her contract based on what she said on an Instagram live video on Friday night. However, the artist has been unsatisfied and unfulfilled and decided to quit the label.
On quitting the label, she had to give up on her stage name “Cynthia Morgan” which her label has insisted she can no longer use, implying that she lost her social media handles and other accounts.
During this difficult time, some industry stakeholders have supported and encouraged her, pressing for her comeback. It started with a call from Davido who is currently working on a song with her as it stands. On the other hand, her fans have launched a Go FundMe of about $150,000 to revive her career as they believe she will come back even stronger than before.
This shows the importance of building a solid fan base and having a good relationship with other artists in any industry. The point here is no longer whether she was wrong or right. The point is the did is already done and the only thing she needs now if fan support which she’s getting. In many other entertainment industries, once this happens to some artists, it automatically becomes the end of their career.
Her mistake of not having read through her contract thoroughly to discover the terms contained, should teach other artists a lesson to not rush into signing what they are not sure about. Almost every label wishes you fumble and sign. Therefore, it is important to not only read through your contract thoroughly, but to have a lawyer go through it as well for any legal jargon.
As for “Madrina”, the most important thing is that her fans trust her art and they believe strongly in a possible comeback for the German Juice crooner. If you were used to Cynthia Morgan, then start preparing to get used to Madrina. She’s back in action and there should be a lot to come given the lessons she could convert into words.
