The Dangote Oil Refinery, owned by Aliko Dangote, which is expected to be Africa’s biggest oil refinery will be inaugurated on May 22, 2023, the company’s spokesperson confirmed on Twitter.
When in full operation, it is expected to have the capacity to process about 650,000 barrels per day of crude oil, making it the world’s largest single-train facility.
The Pipeline Infrastructure at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is considered to be the largest anywhere in the world, with 1,100 kilometres to handle three billion standard cubic feet of gas per day. The Refinery alone has a 435MW Power Plant that can meet the total power requirement of Ibadan DisCo.
The General Manager of Corporate Communications at the Dangote Group, Sunday Esan, told The Nation that invitations have been sent out for the event and will be inaugurated by the outgoing Nigerian President Muhammed Buhari.
Efforts by the Federal Government to make Nigeria self-sufficient in local refining of crude oil and save the scarce foreign exchange used in the importation of petroleum products have received a boost”
– Tweeted the General Manager.
