Yesterday, music fans were tossed by a rare shoutout from rapper Jovi to singer Locko. According to the New Bell Music boss, Locko is the most consistent artist of today’s artists but how valid is that?
Jovi is without doubt one of, if not, the most consistent artist in Cameroon of his time. As a rapper, he has been on top of his game musically, releasing four albums with one more on the way, 10 EP s and one mixtape. For him to have called Locko the most consistent artist, he sure did a thorough research of the singers discography contrary to how many fans see it as throwing shade to another singer Magasco whom many consider to be the most consistent when it comes to the release of EP or Albums.
Magasco has been hardworking and delivered overtime, but putting his differences with Jovi aside, he’s not the most consistent. To burst your bubble, in terms of bodies of work, only Jovi stands ahead of Locko, who has had three albums and two EPs, with three of them coming in the past three years.
Since signing with Universal Music Africa, Locko released an album or EP every year until he left. Here is a list of his body of work.
- 2015 – Skyzo
- 2018 – The Bridge (Big Dreams)
- 2019 – Cloud Nine (Universal Music Africa)
- 2020 – Locked up (Universal Music Africa)
- (EP) , 2021 – Era. (Universal Music Africa)
Magasco on the other hand has had
- 2015 – Raw Gold EP 2015
- 2017 – Golden Boy, 2017 (Empire Company)
- 2019 – Heart 1 & 2 [twin album] (BBOY Records)
- 2022 – Affection EP (BBOY Records)
We can therefore conclude that Locko and Magasco could be at loggerheads in terms of delivery, but Locko came into the game after Magasco and can boast of collaborations with artists like Teeyah, Charlotte Dipanda, Mr. Leo, Bramisto and Tayc just to name a few.
