The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has officially appointed an interim coach following a tumultuous incident at the FECAFOOT headquarters on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
Marc Brys has been reportedly dismissed as the coach of the Indomitable Lions, with Martin Ndtoungou Mpile stepping in as the interim coach. He will lead the team in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde. Assisting Mr. Mpile will be Pagou David as the interim physical instructor and Tinkeu Narcisse as an assistant coach.
In a press release issued by FECAFOOT announcing the new coach, they denounced the intrusion of ministry representatives and expressed dismay at the disrespectful behavior exhibited towards Marc Brys. Brys had previously missed a pre-meeting on May 10, 2024 and subsequently left the headquarters earlier that day.
Not much may be widely known about interim coach Martin Ndtoungou Mpile, but he previously served as the Cameroon coach during the 2008 Olympic games.
