Cameroonian singer, Charles Arthur Locko, popularly Locko, made history in France on Saturday September 13, 2024, with a memorable sold out concert at Casino de Paris.
Locko’s professional music journey began 10 years ago, and the sensational musician is undeniably one of the most succesful artists of his generation. His growth in the industry doesn’t surprise many, as he’s been consistent, and one of the few to move from being a local artist, to becoming a global and household name.
After setting Palais des sports in Yaoundé, on March 8, where he first celebrated his 10th anniversary, with a live band, he moved to France to test the strength of his international fan base, and they didn’t fail to turn up for the “Je serais là” singer.
The Casino the Paris, founded in 1880, is one of the most prestigious music performance venues in France, and not many artists are privileged to perform there, talk more of them shutting it down like Locko did.
Contrary to what the name suggests, Casino De Paris, isn’t a gambling hall. It is rather just a music event venue with a capacity of 2000. What seemed like a mountain to climb for Locko, suddenly became an easy walk in the park for the “Sawa Romance” hit maker.
“THANK YOU is far too weak a word to show my gratitude to you . As one man, you mobilized to make our flag shine in this legendary room. In heart we sang, danced, cried and shouted . This CASINO DE PARIS was not just mine and that of my teams but that of our entire Cameroonian artistic cultural movement. This concert was a message of hope for us, artists on the continent. A message that says, YES WE CAN Thanks to my Lockomotive. Thanks to my teams. Thanks to my fellow artists Thanks to the production team @Mastatik Record Thanks to the media It’s the victory of the continent THANK YOU. YEMA” – Locko appreciates every support he got in Paris.
Artists like locko, continue to inspire the young artists from Cameroon, that the dream to fill big arenas is not only alive, but it’s achievable.
