The 12th edition of the Balafon Music Awards (BMA), happened on December 12th, at Hotel Best Western – Douala, where music creatives came out in their number to receive their recompense for work put in 2024.
The award show started at 7pm CAT, with a red carpet session, followed by several musical performances with Boris Bangteke on stage as the official host of this edition.
While many artists walked home with deserving trophies/awards, some however, won bigger than others. Cysoul and Seppo were capital winners at the 12th edition…
Cysoul won in the following categories:
● Artist of the year, with a cash prize of 1,000,000 CFA ( 2,000,000 FCFA more to be added ) plus a KIA vehicle.
● Male artist of the year worth 250, 000 FCFA
● Album of the year worth 250,000 FCFA
SEPPO won in the following categories:
● Best Recreation of the Year worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Intergenerational collaboration of the year ft Ben Decca – worth 250,000 FCFA
Elsewhere, other artists who won in different categories include:
● Best Collaboration of the year – Salatiel “Closer” ft Charlotte Dipanda, worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Live Performance – Locko, worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Female artist of the year – Sandrine Nnanga, worth 250, 000 FCFA
● Song of the year – BAD NOVA “On va fait comment?” Worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Gospel Inspiration – Lucky +2 worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Video of the Year – Krys M “Il Va Donner” worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Music revelation of the year – Hen’s worth 250,000 FCFA
● Best Producer/Beat Maker – PhillBill “My lover” ft Krys M – Worth 250,000 FCFA
● Special Awards – Beko Sadey and Annie Anzouer
Besides winners, there were thrilling artistic performances from SEPPO, Krys M, Sandrine Nnanga and RJ Kanieri, all the way from Congo, whose performance gave the fans a run for their money.
Despite an inability to create and reserve seats for invited artists who had to find themselves in the crowd as space was an issue, this edition did raise the bar as compared to the previous editions.
Every artist, who won in any category, will be compensated with a sum of 250,000 CFA, while the artist of the year walks home with a sum of 1,000,000 CFA, a car, plus add-ons
