SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT SUSPENDS MINISTER FOR VIOLATING LOCK DOWN - The Premier Hub for News, Lifestyle, and Entertainment among African Diaspora

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has suspended one of South Africa’s top minister’s for a period of two months, including one month unpaid salary, after the minister was pictured having lunch with a friend which is a violation as it strictly against the implemented national lockdown to fight coronavirus.

As reported by Bloomberg, Communications and Digital Technologies Minister, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams was summoned to explain herself on Tuesday April 7, 2020, after a picture of herself and former Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana, surfaced on social media as the pair were having lunch together.

South African’s have been ordered to stay home for three weeks with few exceptions such as buying food or medicine, and security forces commanded the head of state to stand firm on maintaining the lockdown.

The president after sanctioning and suspending his top minister did not say whether she will be fined, but if there has to be a fine, she will be expected to pay R1500 ($82 USD) to the state for going against the law.

Members of the National Executive carry a special responsibility in setting an example to South Africans, who are having to make great sacrifices,” Ramaphosa said in a statement.

None of us should undermine our national effort to save lives.”

However, Stella, 42, after her suspension issued an apology to South African’s for having violated the lockdown and setting the wrong example as a leader.

I regret the incident and I am deeply sorry for my actions,” Ndabeni-Abrahams said.

I hope the President and South Africans will find it in their hearts to forgive me.” She said!

South Africa recently deported New Zealand Health Minister David Clark for driving his family to the beach for a walk, which didn’t align with country’s rules put in place.
