Senegal’s President Macky Sall Celebrates Birthday

President Macky Sall of the Republic of Senegal turns 58 today. Born on December 11, 1961, he has been serving as President since April 2012 and was re-elected in the first round voting in February 2019. He has had a seemingly impressive political career with high profile government postings.

Prior to becoming President, he had served as Mayor of Fatick, the town where he was born from 2009-2012, before which he was Prime Minister of the Republic of Senegal from 2004-2007. President Sall is married to Marième Faye and they have two sons and one daughter. Sall is also a geologist.
