A young lady from Cameroon, sparked a lot of controversy when she posted on her Fcebook wall what she thinks about having children outside of marriage. What made her post more disturbing was the fact that she seemed very oblivious to the sensitive and insulting nature of of her post. She is in support of people having children even when no married as she says in other words, that when you get old and find yourself childless, you will want to have a child even if you are not married because the worse thing that can happen to any human is to be childless.
Okay! We have come across thousands of posts and opinions but this one right here struck a nerve. Not because of what she said per se, but because this is unfortunately the mindset of many young Africans who believe that the only goal in life is to have a child or to “die” trying. If only she knew that there are thousands of people trying to conceive but cannot. So, are you saying that them not having a child is the worse thing that can happen to them?
What ever happened about God’s time is the best time? If it is not your destiny to have children then you should be grateful for the things you have such as good health, oxygen, food, and just simply being alive. Some people have children but they do not have the health to enjoy them. It is very disrespectful to label people based on what YOU think is right. If she values having children, it does not mean people who do not for whatever reason are experiencing the worse thing in their life. Who made her the judge to determine what the worse thing in peoples life is to begin with? Let’s stop being judgemental based on what you think is normal.
We posted a snapshot of her post (which has since been deleted from her Facebook wall but the internet never forgets) to see the reaction of our readers and there were many mixed feelings. Many were against what she said for various reasons while others were… let’s just say you need to read the comments for yourself so join the conversation.
