May 20th is a symbolic day for Cameroon because it is Cameroon’s National Day and a public holiday. The government of Cameroon chose 20th May as Cameroon’s National Day to commemorate President Ahmadou Ahidjo’s abolishment of the federal system of government and creation of a unitary country in 1972.
While Chantal Biya and husband Paul Biya were at the May 20th marching procession, she decided to adjust Cameroon’s presidents vest. This was captured on national tv.
