HAVE ARTISTS NOT DONE ENOUGH?
I will say they have not done enough. Yes! There is a song for peace powered by Niki Heat Entertainment that features Blaise B, lesline, Ewube. The song is great but could that song alone end violence? These artists are great Cameroonian talents nondount, but are they the most influential and most popular? What have the most popular ones done? tweeting and posting on their social media stories? The truth must be told even if it hurts.
There is a group of Ivorian artists called the Zouglou singers with a popular song titled “Liberez mon pays.”
It should be noted that this song, though one of of the songs that brought peace in Ivory Coast, was not the only song produced. There were many others. They did it together, the artists kept their differences as artists aside and put their country first and it paid off.
It will always seem in effective in Cameroon because there there is division, pride and selfishness. Cameroon artists alone can put an end to the violence and bring peace, they don’t need guns! They need just togetherness (Unity) and their voice! Ivorian musicians and influences didn’t use guns!
