Armand Duplantis is one of the most dominant athletes in the history of sports. He is a 25 years old Swedish pole vaulter who has not only broken the world record but has done it again and again, beating his own mark thirteen times. Pole vault is an event where an athlete runs with a long pole, plants it into the ground, and uses it to launch themselves over a high bar. The height they clear is measured, and the one who jumps highest sets the record. Duplantis has turned this event into his personal stage, pushing the limits of human performance.
His first world record came in 2020 when he jumped 6.17 metres. Just days later, he went even higher with a jump of 6.18 metres. These two jumps announced to the world that a new king of pole vaulting had arrived. He was young, fast, and incredibly precise, and it was clear he was going to go much higher.
In 2022, Duplantis broke his own record again, clearing 6.19 metres. He then improved it to 6.20 metres that same year. That was not all, still in 2022, he managed 6.21 metres. In just one year, he raised the bar three times, proving that he was far ahead of his competition.
The year 2023 was no different. Duplantis started by setting a new record of 6.22 metres. Later, he improved it to 6.23 metres. Each time he broke the record, it was not by luck but by perfect technique and athletic ability.
In 2024, he once again amazed the world. First, he jumped 6.24 metres, then 6.25 metres, and later 6.26 metres. No other pole vaulter in history had reached such heights, yet Duplantis kept pushing himself higher.
In 2025, Duplantis entered the year in the same way he had dominated the previous ones. He cleared 6.27 metres, then 6.28 metres, and finally set the current world record of 6.29 metres. That jump made history as the highest a human has ever vaulted, and it stands as proof of his talent and determination.

From 6.17 metres in 2020 to 6.29 metres in 2025, Armand Duplantis has broken his own record thirteen times. No other athlete in the sport has ever controlled the record books the way he has. He is not just the best in the world right now, he is the best the sport has ever seen. If history is any guide, he may not be done yet, and the bar might keep rising.
