Remember Ivorian soccer player Emmanuel Eboue who once earned 8 million Euros in Turkey? He spent most of his career, with Arsenal of the Premier League from 2005-2011, playing 214 games, including the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final. Despite the huge amount of money he made from soccer, he had made headline news when he went broke after his Belgium ex-wife Aurélie won custody of their three kids and control of all his assets by allegedly exploiting his poor education. He had gotten married to her at the young age of 20 before joining Arsenal and had career earnings of approximately £20 million.
After his divorce, he is said to have slept on the floor of other people’s houses and washed clothes and plates with his hands. In December 2017, Eboué told the Sunday Mirror that he is poor and homeless due to his divorce and bad investments that were under his former wife’s control and in June 2019, he also spoke about his ongoing struggle with mental health.
In 2019, he remarried his Ivorian girlfriend whom he previously dumped early in his career for his ex-Belgian wife. They married in Ivory Coast in a very private wedding as he did not want many to know about it after all he’s been through.
